Stortorvets

Grensen 1, +47 23 35 6360, www.stortorvets-gjestgiveri.no Santa might not approve but reindeer medallions are delicious, especially with lingonberries. This old-fashioned restaurant dates to the early 1700s. Reindeer tartar, 149 kroner (€18).

Parkteatret

Olaf Ryes plass 11, +47 93 28 8002, www.parkteatret.no Bathed in warm neon light, the foyer bar of this Grünerlokka music venue brightens the darkest evening. A caipirinha is 88 kroner (€10).

INSIDER TIP

The city-centre Narvisen ice rink is off Karl Johans Gate. Skates and warming cups of hot chocolate are available.
